Bob Dylan auf dem Höhepunkt seiner Kreativität: 1965/66, dem Jahr seiner drei Alben, welche die Rockmusik verändert haben: "Bringing It All Back Home", "Highway 61 Revisited" und "Blonde on Blonde". Von der letztgenannten Doppel-LP (der ersten überhaupt) stammt ein Lied, das sich - irgendwie - auf eine berühmte Figur der Antike bezieht: Achilles.
Worin dieser Bezug besteht - ich verstehe es nicht. Vielleicht sieht ein anderer klarer.
Hier ist der Text:

Well Achilles is still a name that you find, so it could be a real guy, but more likely it a reference to the fact that Achilles was exactly the sort of character that this wannabe outsider can’t compete with. He’s the rich man’s child up against the man who slayed Hector outside the gates of Troy. to win the Trojan war. I mean, how does a rich kid compete with someone like this?


In the song Achilles is the new “guard” of the ex-lover. I guess it makes some sense that a Greek warrior would make a good guard. Why is Achilles “temporary”? Is the narrator telling us that he was just a temporary plaything of his ex-lover, that the new lover Achilles will only be temporary as well? It’s a mystery I suppose.




Calling his rival "Achilles", the narrator senses the new suitor may be discarded as quickly as he was.[78][83] The refrain that ends each of the main verses—"Honey, why are you so hard?"—is a double entendre Dylan had been wanting to work into a song.

Die Bedeutung des Albumtitels Blonde on Blonde bleibt so rätselhaft wie viele der dunklen, kryptischen und apokalyptischen Textpassagen voller surrealistischer Drogenmetaphern und furioser rimbaudartiger Traumfantasien.[7] Eine der vielen Legenden führt den Titel auf die Monroe-blonde Schönheit Edie Sedgwick aus dem Umfeld Andy Warhols zurück, mit der Bob Dylan angeblich eine Affäre hatte.[8] Blonde on Blonde könnte auch Bezug nehmen auf die damals Aufsehen erregende Affäre zwischen Brian Jones von den Rolling Stones und der Schauspielerin Anita Pallenberg.

Interessante Interpretationsansätze. Aber letztlich: "It’s a mystery I suppose."
Immerhin kann man Achilles damit in Verbindung bringen.
